PBX H-Mod preservation scan

PBX was the most successful 'H Mod' race car developed in the 1950's.

Karl Ludvigsen wrote an article about the PBX for Sports Cars
Illustrated (now Car and Driver) in 1956. At that time the car
had started 35 races, finished 32, and won its class in 26.

Scanning PBX before restoration at Dominik's European Car Repair. The owner of both Dominik's and PBX is Santo Spadaro.

The small dots are reflective stickers that ensure accurate tracking during the scan. The cloudy finish on the areo-screens is from scanning spray, the spray is rather like a talcum powder, except it sublimates and disappears after a couple hours - the safety of the car is always paramount.

Scan data with the final surfacing in overlaid CAD. We use CREO as our chosen CAD package, its high end and allows us to create sculpted surfaces, create engineered parts, prepare technical control drawings and, run both FEA and CFD simulations all in the same environment. By creating true surfaces from the scan data we can use that for manufacture and fabrication.

The original details are recorded to ensure the car's history is respected during it's life. Especially important as Santo Spadaro still races the car with the VSCCA.
